Student Spotlight: iQLA Valedictorian Graduates Early with College Credits and Big Plans for a Career in Healthcare
At only 17 years old, Kaitlyn has already reached an incredible milestone. As the valedictorian of the Class of 2025 at iQ Academy of California–Los Angeles (iQLA), Kaitlyn graduated a full year early, earned college credits, and delivered a powerful speech in front of her classmates, teachers, and family at the in-person ceremony held at Orange Coast College.
A First-Generation College Student with Big Goals
Kaitlyn is the first in her family to pursue a college degree. Her goal is to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, a highly specialized healthcare role that requires years of study and hands-on experience.
“I’ve always wanted a career in medicine, and I knew I needed a learning environment that would allow me to stay focused and move forward faster,” Kaitlyn said.
Why Online School Was the Right Fit
Kaitlyn credits her success to the balance and support she found at iQLA. The structure of online school gave her the ability to work at her own pace, stay organized, and take on additional academic challenges like dual enrollment. This enabled her to complete college courses while still in high school, giving her a strong head start.
“Being in a virtual environment helped me avoid distractions and focus on my goals,” Kaitlyn explained. “The teachers were always there when I needed them, and I was able to push myself to do more.”
Celebrating in Person
Although iQLA students learn online, the graduation ceremony was an opportunity for Kaitlyn and her classmates to come together in person and celebrate everything they accomplished. Speaking as valedictorian, Kaitlyn reflected on her journey and encouraged her peers to stay determined and believe in what they can achieve.
Advice for Future Students
For other students considering online school, Kaitlyn has a clear message:
“You can absolutely succeed. You just need to stay motivated, stay on schedule, and reach out for help when you need it.”
Kaitlyn’s story is a powerful example of what students can accomplish when given the space, support, and tools to succeed. Now she is ready to take on college and a future in healthcare, and there is no doubt she will continue to lead the way.
